What Is It?

You may be surprised to hear the black cohosh root is actually an herb. Moreover, it was useful for a variety of medicinal purposes. As a matter of fact, the Native American Indians thought to introduce it to the European colonists, which is how it has become popular as a women’s health treatment. Black cohosh root also has a wealth of Vitamin A, B, B2, B3, C, and K. Furthermore, it contains necessary nutrients such as calcium, iron, magnesium, sodium, potassium, and zinc.

HEY LADIES! YEAH?

Historically, black cohosh root was used for premenstrual syndrome and menopause as well. This continues to be the trend, as it can be seen in many female supplements today. It even offers support to weakened bones and conditions such as osteoporosis. Black cohosh root has also been found to be similar to the female hormone, estrogen. It seems to have similar effects as the hormone, but should not be viewed as a supplement or replacement.

What It Does Inside Your Body

Seeing that black cohosh root can treat a variety of things, it makes sense that it contains an abundance of chemicals that interact with different parts of your body. For example, it interacts with the immune system which may be able to help your body fight off diseases. Or, it can also reduce inflammation. More interestingly, black cohosh root can interact with the chemicals in your brain, and may help give you a slight boost of serotonin.

Just Keep In Mind…

While black cohosh root may help with a variety of things, it does not cure or significantly impact any of these conditions. Always consult your doctor.
